The Rambla de Méndez Núnez area along with the surrounding streets is a great place to shop for traditional items and local specialties with the Maisonnave area providing a modernized shopping experience.

Alicante's best shopping experience though has to be the Central Maret in the Avendi de Alfonso el Sabio district, offering some of the finest local produce including wines, fruit liquors, stuffed olives, fish and vegetable preserves, rugs, handmade toys, dolls, pottery and much more. Leather made items are also very popular here with some great quality leather shoes, wallets, belts and bags available to name a few.
Need to take a break from all that shopping? Tucked away behind the market, the Flower Seller's Square is a great place to wind down. With many cafés and restaurants to choose from accompanied by all the brilliant colours of the flower seller's stalls post-shopping therapy couldn't get any better!

Nightlife
For nights out, Alicante has some great hot-spots to choose from and you'll be guaranteed a night to remember. Known for its diversity and lively atmosphere La Zona plays host to many great bars and night clubs catering for all ages, but not your only option.
The Routa de la Madera is another area with a wealth of choice for bars and discos where you'll find the decoration of choice revolves around wood. This will be no surprise when you realise that the name Routa de la Medera means 'Route of Wood'.
Live music fans should take a trip to El Barrio, another lively spot El Barrio offers not just live music, but also art exhibitions and prides it self on catering for all tastes.

If you looking for a quieter night out, the Marina offers many exclusive restaurants to have a meal with friends, family or a loved one. Also offering a late night shopping center which includes a great cinema, those wanting to catch a film wont be left out although we do recommend you check the language of the film, or if it has subtitles before you purchase your ticket.

After a night out you may be looking for something easier going.
Taking advantage of your car hire, why not drive to one of the outlying areas of parkland around Alicante. With around 72,000m2 of park you'll have plenty of room to relax, maybe under a palm tree taking in the local flora and fauna or maybe just reading a book.
Back in town there is just as good an opportunity for relaxing with Canelejas Park (near the Explanada), boasting some impressive rubber trees and a monument to the famous Spanish play write Carlos Arniches.

Theme Park
Those looking for a park for the whole family can enjoy (or even those just young at heart) should take a trip to Tosgal Mountain (next to the San Fernando Castle). This theme park offers all the usual fun along with space for mini-golf, bowls, chess, skating and skateboarding, cycling, running, walking and finally the opportunity to take in some of the breathtaking panoramic views from high above the city.
